Aechos was a Thracian gladiator who escaped from the ludus of Batiatus along with Spartacus and the other gladiators and slaves during the Third Servile War. He later fought for Spartacus in the slave rebellion against the Roman Republic.
Aechos was born somewhere in eastern Thrace and taken into slavery later in his life. Taken to Italy, he was sold to Lentulus Batiatus and trained as a gladiator at his ludus. He survived many times in the arena, once having to punch his apponent to death when his right arm was badly cut. He was well respected in Batiatus' ludus, becoming great friends with Spartacus.
He was more than eager to escape the ludus at the start of 73 BC and begin a rebellion, and proved himself an amazing fighter helping the rebels escape.
As a gladiator, Aechos was an incredibly skilled fighter.
Aechos was tall with the build of a gladiator. He had a large scar running across his left arm
