Oroles was a Thracian gladiator who escaped from the ludus of his own dominus along with Gorovus during the Third Servile War. He later joined Spartacus and fought in his rebellion against the Roman Republic.
Oroles was a child when his small villiage in eastern thrace was burned down. His mother had perished in the fire and he and his father headed for western Thrace, where they encountered Roman soldiers. They were both falsely accused and both condemned to slavery. Unknown to him, his father died ten years later. Oroles became the body slave of a wealthy Roman. When Oroles became older and taller, his dominus sold him to Gaius Accalius Vibius, a lanista and trained as a gladiator in Capua.
