The Pilum was a long spear from Roman origin, measuring around two meters long and ending with a pyramidal iron head. The Pilum was designed mainly for use as a throwing weapon, though it was also used effectively as a defensive weapon, especially when in close formation with other Pilum-carrying soldiers. The Pilum was able to remain stuck in the shield of the apponent, and it caused the enemy to usually drop their shield.
